Our Story
Shamrock Plants is a wholesale nursery located in Southeast Queensland, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Since 1993, our stunning ornamental plants have been adorning garden centres and stores all along Australia’s eastern coast.
Shamrock Plants specialises in vibrant flowering plants, including gerberas, roses, lavenders, geranium and many more. Since the current owners came onboard in 2015, our nursery space has more than doubled in size allowing us to tend to dozens of different plant species. We work hard to ensure every single potted plant reaches our retailers looking as beautiful as ever. Whether you’re after brightly coloured petals, striking patterned foliage, hardy groundcover, or soothing floral aromas, Shamrock Plants has something for everyone. Colour, scent, usefulness, quirkiness – something special to give everyone a real connection to nature.
Growing
Shamrock Plants employs an in-house team of growers that ensure the quality of the plants year-round. Utilising an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system, we approach pest and disease holistically, which includes the regular use of biological controls such as Phytoseiulus persimilis. This approach allows for decrease in the use of insecticides and pesticides.
Nursery Expansion
In 2019, Shamrock Plants built a new covered growing area which greatly improved our Gerbera growing capabilities. The new structure contains HAF fans for better air circulation, as well as environmental controls over shade, light, and temperature. This has improved Shamrock Plants ability to supply large amounts of top-quality Gerberas, year-round, throughout the East Coast.
Solar Energy
In late 2019, Shamrock Plants has successfully completed a project to install a rooftop solar system to supply clean energy to the growing nursery business. The solar system utilised some of the nursery’s roof space to place over 100 solar panels that feed power through a state-of-the-art invertor to the grid. The new solar energy is being used in the nursery to control the temperature in the nursery and pump the required water from the dam through a system of water tanks and filters.
Shamrock Plants is a regular participant in the NGIQ’s annual Green Expo.
